Srinagar, May 14 (KNO): The J&K CEGA has reconstituted its Core Team and called for restoration of professional dignity, regular promotions and institutional reforms for engineers in Jammu & Kashmir. During a meeting attended by senior engineers from the Public Works and Jal Shakti departments, the association discussed growing concerns over incharge promotions, delayed regularisation and the need for stronger unity and career progression within the engineering fraternity. In a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), a spokesperson said that an extraordinary meeting convened by the J&K CEGA, attended by the elected body of the association and senior engineers from the Public Works and Jal Shakti departments, deliberated on the future functioning of the association and the evolving administrative scenario following the formation of the political government in Jammu & Kashmir. The spokesperson said the meeting discussed the challenges confronting the engineering fraternity and stressed the need for collective action, institutional strengthening and restoration of professional dignity. He said several key issues were highlighted during the meeting, including the alleged undermining of engineers’ professional dignity at various administrative levels despite their continued service under challenging circumstances, the growing dependence on incharge promotions while regularisation remains pending, and the urgent need for implementation of Assured Career Progression for engineers. The meeting also stressed strengthening unity among engineers across departments and organising regular seminars, workshops and technical interactions for professional development and policy discussions, the spokesperson said. He said J&K CEGA President Er Farooq Ahmad Ganie announced the dissolution of the existing Executive Council and constituted a new Core Team aimed at revitalising the association and ensuring wider representation of engineers. According to the statement, the newly constituted Core Team includes Er Nasir Amin as Chief Patron, Er Syed Ishfaq and Er Zubair Naqash as Vice Presidents, Er Mudassir Mushtaq Untoo as Additional General Secretary and Er Malik Mudassir as Joint Secretary. The elected body includes Er Farooq Ahmad Ganie as President, Er Irfan Reshi as General Secretary and Er Ashaq Ahmad Ashaq as Treasurer. The spokesperson said the Core Team would, in the first phase, constitute district-level executive bodies comprising dedicated engineers to strengthen the association and safeguard the interests of the engineering fraternity. “The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment towards unity, institutional accountability, professional excellence and safeguarding the collective interests of engineers in Jammu & Kashmir,” the statement added.—(KNO)
